New York (MFA Somalia) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Mr. Abshir Omar Jama, participated on Monday (September 19) the opening ceremony of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which was held in New York, under the theme “Solutions through Solidarity, Sustainability and Science”.
The meetings of the United Nations General Assembly will discuss a number of issues of concern to the international community, on top of which are food insecurity, high energy prices, global supply chain disruptions, unemployment, women’s empowerment, climate change and education. According to the schedule, the meetings will continue between September 19-25.
The Somali delegation participating in the UN General Assembly will hold marginal meetings with a number of heads of state and foreign ministers, as well as representatives from international and regional organizations. These meetings will focus on consolidating Somalia’s relationship with these countries and organizations to enhance cooperation and strategic partnership.
