Mogadishu (MFASomalia) – On 16 January 2018, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Amb. Ahmed Isse Awad, received a courtesy call from the Ethiopian Ambassador to Somalia, Mr. Jamaluddin Mustafa Omar, the two sides exchanged views on Somali-Ethiopian relations.
Ambassador Jamaluddin conveyed Ethiopian Foreign Minister Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu’s greetings to Foreign Minister Amb. Ahmed Isse Awad and said that Ethiopia enjoys a relationship built on mutual respect, good neighborliness and profound traditional friendship, the bilateral relations are developing with a sound monmentum, and cooperation on all fronts is fruitful.
During the meeting, the issue of security, the Ethiopian role in AMISOM and the activation of the agreements between the two countries were also discussed in order to further enrich the Somali-Ethiopian strategic partnership.
Minister Ahmed Isse Awad welcomed Ambassador Jamaluddin, Ethiopia’s ambassador to Somalia, and asked him to express his best wishes to Minister Workneh Gebeyehu. Minister Awad praised the development of Somali-Ethiopian relations in recent years and said he would like to work with the Ethiopian side to push forward the development of bilateral relations.
