H.E. Minister Abdusalam H. Omer bade farewell to outgoing Burundian Ambassador in Somalia, General Joseph Nkurunziza on Friday after a special lunch hosted in his honour by the Minister. Before the lunch, Ambassador Joseph Nkurunziza paid a courtesy visit to H.E. the President who thanked him for his service and for strengthening our two nations bilateral ties.

Ambassador Joseph Nkurunziza on the occasion said the Somali-Burundian relationship is one of the most important and successful, especially, in the areas of security. Ambassador Nkurunziza stated how passionate he felt about the strengthening ties between our two nations and expressed his Government’s sincere desire for economic cooperation and development in both countries.

Ambassador Joseph Nkurunzizawas highlighted the significant role the high level visits on both sides to Burundi and Somalia has played in strengthening the bilateral relations of the two countries.

On his part, Minister Omer made clear the role played by Ambassador Joseph Nkurunziza in strengthening the bilateral ties between Somalia and Burundi. Minister Omer thanked the outgoing Ambassador for his efforts and paid special tribute to the courage of the Burundian army within AMISOM for the important role they are playing in Somalia’s security.
